Karen Doss Bowman, Freelance Writer and Editor

I’m a versatile freelance writer and editor specializing in higher education, health care and philanthropy. I write feature and news articles, personality profiles, marketing materials and Web content for colleges and universities, hospitals and medical centers, corporate and non-profit organizations, and consumer magazines. I launched my business in 2005, after working 12 years as a staff writer and editor for Bridgewater College (VA), Georgetown University and Radford University.

My writing has received numerous awards in the Virginia Press Women (now Virginia Professional Communicators) and National Federation of Press Women writing contests. I’m a graduate of Bridgewater College in Virginia, where I majored in English and minored in music, and completed graduate coursework in communication at Radford University. My family and I live in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
